LEBKUCHENHERZEN:

The lebkuchenherzen is a gingerbread cookie or cake that is very popular around Germany during the holiday season. Often it is seen hanging for sale at many Christmas market booths, sometimes as large as dinner plates. The lebkuchenherzen — the name specific name for the heart-shaped lebkuchen — has become a staple in German celebrations, especially around Christmas time. These are typically harder cookies than other varieties and decorated with intricate icing designs and lettering. While ours are just wooden imitations they are intended to honor the lebkuchenherzen tradition and can be hung on your tree, or just about anywhere you want to evoke the German Spirit of Christmas.

HEART OF ZAGREB:

Also known to locals as Licitar Hearts, they are one of the most recognizable symbols of Zagreb, Croatia, and date back to the middle ages. They were a popular way for men to show their affection toward young women. These are found throughout Croatia, especially at Christmas time. While they were originally made as cookies, they morphed into ceramic and plastic souvenirs. Hang one wherever you want to have a piece of Croatian Christmas Culture or give one to someone special to show your affection for them.
